The
Harassment and Torture Charity
The following objects are to be amended, in order to
satisfy the Charity Commission, but the initial draft below gives a good
indication of our field of operation, except insofar as the draft contains any
objects which are not exclusively charitable at law.
CHARITABLE OBJECTS
i. Conducting research into the range of techniques and technologies of torture and harassment about which alleged victims complain and, at its option, to compile and publish reports concerning the prevalence of each technique or technology
ii. Conducting of research into methods for accurately recognising the presence of torture or harassment conducted in a manner such that it is intended that victims will find it difficult or impossible to prove in court or otherwise either that torture or harassment is taking place, or who is perpetrating the torture or harassment
iii. Conducting research into how, if at all, citizens may be enabled to defend themselves from torture and harassment, or limit the harm suffered from either
iv. Providing information to alleged victims and others as to the present day risks of harassment and torture
v. Provision of any kind of help, support, encouragement, empowerment, equipment, relief, respite, care, accommodation or advocacy, to alleged victims of torture and harassment
vi. Attempting to meet the above objects worldwide
vii. Limiting the extent to which the charity pursues its objects, whenever these are pursued to the benefit of beneficiaries whom it might be impractical to serve, whilst the charity is operating solely from within the United Kingdom
viii. Research into initiatives and provisions aimed at reducing the amount of harassment and torture underway in the world today, or raising public awareness of either
ix. Education of the public as regards any or all of what is discovered during the pursuit of research-oriented objects above
x. Solicitation of donations for any or all of the charity's objects, generally, or specifically.
